What is Cold Room?

A cold room is a type of storage area used primarily for the storage of goods where the temperature can be manually controlled. The use of cold storage rooms has been crucial to industry since the end of the 19th century. Anything that needs to be refrigerated to prevent spoiling is kept in cold rooms.

There are numerous goods, such as fruits, vegetables, seafood, meat, flowers, and others, that require refrigeration. The product that will be stored determines the cool room's temperature. For the purpose of preserving food, such as frozen foods, which are kept at temperatures below zero. In addition, there're some fruits and vegetables must also be kept at 0°C for storage.

Cold Room System Design & Development

What Inspires You to Get a Cold Room?

A typical cold storage room can be kept at a low temperature by using air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

The refrigeration systems play a vital role in prolonging the shelf life of products and preserving their quality. It also aids in lowering the amount of commodities wasted. The food industry is the one that uses cold rooms the most frequently. They are typically used by business buildings to store a lot of food. This allows them to buy in bulk for the items they require and store them without having to worry about the food going bad.

How Do You Operate a Cold Room?

The five primary parts of every cold room system are as follows:

1. The compressor

2. The condenser

3. Expanding Valve

4. Coils in evaporators

5. A fan or fans

The compressor is the first part of the assembly. The refrigerant gas is compressed by the compressor. The condenser, which allows the hot gas to cool to a liquid, comes in second. An expansion valve regulates the liquefied gas's flow and the point at which it turns from liquid to vapor. After that, the liquid gas expands and boils in the evaporator coils. By absorbing energy, this process cools the coils. Finally, there are the fans. The cold room will be cooled by fans moving air over the cold evaporator coils. Additionally, air can be blown over pipes that hold liquid antifreeze that has been cooled using an evaporator. In order to guarantee uniform distribution of the cold air and minimize temperature fluctuations, fans are also used to circulate air around the cold room.
